

ALLENTOWN, Pa. – A police chase through the Lehigh Valley ended in a violent crash early Friday morning.
The pursuit came to a halt around 2:30 a.m. at the intersection of East Clay and Irving Streets in Allentown, when the driver lost control of the vehicle, struck a curb, and flipped onto a lawn.
Pennsylvania State Police said troopers had been pursuing the car before the crash. The impact left the vehicle mangled and the driver trapped inside.
Emergency crews worked to free the driver, who was taken to the hospital in serious condition.
No other injuries were reported.
The cause of the chase and what led up to it remain under investigation.
