
LOWER MACUNGIE TWP., Pa. — A 22-year-old man from Coopersburg has died following a crash involving a passenger vehicle and a tractor-trailer on Interstate 78 in Lehigh County.
According to Pennsylvania State Police, the crash occurred Thursday night in the eastbound lanes near mile marker 54, between the Route 100 and Route 222 interchanges in Lower Macungie Township.
Emergency crews were dispatched to the scene just before midnight. The Lehigh County Coroner’s Office confirmed that the 22-year-old driver was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after their arrival.
Authorities say the driver of the tractor-trailer was not injured in the crash.
The incident led to the closure of the eastbound lanes of I-78 for several hours as first responders worked the scene and investigators began reconstructing the crash.
State police say the investigation remains ongoing. Anyone who may have witnessed the crash or has dashcam footage is asked to contact Pennsylvania State Police in Fogelsville and reference incident number PA26-519851.
