SOUTH WHITEHALL TWP., Pa. — A driver was rescued after a vehicle crashed through the wall of the Lehigh Valley Educators Credit Union on Hamilton Boulevard Tuesday afternoon.
South Whitehall Township Police and the Greenawalds Fire Department responded to the credit union around 2:06 p.m.
Police said a rescue assignment was requested after officers confirmed the driver was trapped inside the vehicle. Firefighters opened a wall into an adjoining office and removed the driver’s-side door to reach the occupant.
The driver was safely extricated and transferred to EMS personnel for medical evaluation.
Crews inspected the building and determined that its structural integrity had not been significantly compromised, according to the Cetronia Volunteer Fire Department. The building was evacuated as a precaution, and its electrical service was secured.
No one inside the credit union was injured. The branch was closed for the remainder of the day.
Police are investigating what caused the crash.
