Nike’s first signature shoe for Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark sold out at Nike.com and several major retailers within about two hours of its U.S. release Thursday.
The Caitlin 1 went on sale at 10 a.m. Eastern time on Oct. 1. By around 11 a.m., Nike.com had few sizes remaining below size 15. The shoe was also reported sold out at Foot Locker, Champs Sports and Hibbett. Adult pairs retailed for $140.
Resale listings for the shoes were already reaching $200 or more Thursday. Those are asking prices, and it was not immediately clear how many pairs had sold on the resale market. Nike has not disclosed how many pairs were available for the launch.
The debut collection included Caitlin Blue and Warning Code colorways. Nike says additional Caitlin 1 colorways are planned for release in the coming months.
Later Thursday, Nike announced another round of planned job cuts as part of a broader restructuring. The company has not said how many positions will be affected and expects to begin notifying employees in 2027. Nike said the restructuring program is expected to generate about $2.5 billion in savings through fiscal 2031.
The announcement came as Nike reported a 4% drop in quarterly sales and forecast a larger revenue decline for fiscal 2027. The job cuts were announced on the same day as Clark’s shoe launch; Nike has not said the two events are connected.
Did you get a pair at retail, find one on the resale market, or are you waiting for another colorway?
