A Texas community is mourning the loss of a firefighter and much of his family after a devastating head-on crash in Cooke County.
Authorities identified the victims as Cooper Bailey, a firefighter in Paradise, along with his wife Jennifer Bailey and their young son Hudson. Their daughter, Lilah, survived the crash and was reported to be seriously injured.
According to investigators, the crash happened Saturday night around 8:20 p.m. along FM 51 near County Road 383. Officials say a southbound SUV attempted to pass another vehicle in a no-passing zone and collided head-on with the Bailey family’s vehicle. The impact caused the family’s SUV to catch fire.
The driver of the other vehicle was also killed in the crash.
Local emergency officials described the incident as a tragic accident, noting that Cooper Bailey was a dedicated member of the fire service. He had recently completed EMT training and was preparing to take his certification exam.
The loss has deeply impacted the firefighting community and the town of Paradise, as loved ones continue to pray for Lilah’s recovery.
