EARL TWP., Pa. — A Central Berks Regional Police officer was killed Friday night after a crash while responding to a call for service in Berks County.
The fallen officer has been identified as Officer Kristen Yeager.
According to Central Berks Regional Police, Officer Yeager died following the crash on Friday, May 29, 2026, while responding to a call for service. The crash happened around 8 p.m. in Earl Township, with reports placing the scene near Route 73 and Manatawny Road. Other reports also referenced the area of Manatawny Road and Shoemaker Road.
In a statement, the department said Officer Yeager served the community with “courage, compassion, and unwavering dedication,” adding that she placed the safety of others above her own.
Emergency crews flooded the area after the crash. Aerial video from news helicopters showed the police vehicle off the roadway in a wooded area, with crews working late into the night to remove the vehicle from the scene.
Authorities have not yet released details on what caused the crash. The investigation remains ongoing.
Officer Yeager’s death marks a heartbreaking loss for the Central Berks Regional Police Department, her fellow officers, and the communities she served.
