Breaking News: Arson Fire at Pennsylvania Governor’s Mansion Leads to Arrest

HARRISBURG, Pa. — A suspect is in custody after a fire believed to be arson at the Pennsylvania governor’s mansion. The incident occurred late Sunday, prompting the evacuation of Governor Josh Shapiro and his family.

Fortunately, there were no injuries reported, and the fire has been extinguished.

According to authorities, the suspect managed to jump over a fence surrounding the property, forcibly entered the residence, and set it on fire.

The fire broke out during the first night of the Jewish holiday of Passover, which the Shapiro family was celebrating at the governor’s residence in Harrisburg. Pennsylvania State Police have stated that they are investigating but confirmed that the fire is being treated as an act of arson.

While no further details about the cause of the fire have been released, officials noted it caused significant damage to part of the mansion. Governor Shapiro and his family were sleeping in a different area of the residence when the fire started and were awakened around 2 a.m. by police officers banging on their door.

The Harrisburg Bureau of Fire responded quickly to extinguish the flames while the state police ensured the safety of the Shapiro family. Governor Shapiro expressed gratitude that no one was harmed and thanked first responders for their prompt action.

‘The NTSB has confirmed that although there were hazardous materials residues present in the 2 railcars that derailed in Lower Saucon, there was no leakage. Hence, it is evident that the situation could have been worse.
