DOYLESTOWN, Pa. — Central Bucks School District plans to increase police presence during and after evening athletic events at Central Bucks West High School after approximately 300 juveniles gathered in downtown Doylestown following a football game last Friday night.
Central Bucks Regional Police said officers responded to repeated calls involving large groups in the street, car alarms, noise complaints and fights between about 9:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 25, and 1 a.m. Saturday. Police are also investigating an assault reported during the gathering.
Police released video of an incident in a parking lot between the Doylestown firehouse and Klein Burnett & Associates. The department’s case page lists the incident at about 10 p.m. Sept. 25 and says the investigation remains active. Police are asking anyone with information to call 215-345-4143 or submit a tip anonymously.
Central Bucks Superintendent Joanna Wexler said the reported incidents happened off school property, and the district cannot confirm how many people involved were Central Bucks students. She said the reports of fighting, disruptive behavior and a possible assault are concerning and do not reflect the district’s expectations for students.
The district said it has been in contact with local police and arranged for an increased police presence during and after evening athletic events at CB West. School administrators will also review expectations with middle and high school students about behavior on and off campus during and after school events.
The district is asking parents and guardians to discuss those expectations with their children. It also reminded families that middle school students must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
Police had not announced any arrests in connection with the downtown incidents as of Tuesday, Sept. 29. The department was still seeking information about the reported assault.
