A teacher and a teenage student were killed, and six other students were injured in a shooting at Abundant Life Christian School in Madison, Wisconsin, on Monday, according to police reports.
Initially, police reported a higher death toll but later revised that information. The suspect, who was also a teenage student at the school, is deceased. Authorities stated that the suspect used a handgun during the incident.
Madison Police Chief Shon Barnes addressed the media, noting that the motive for the shooting remains unclear. Among the six injured students, two are in critical condition with life-threatening injuries, while four others sustained non-life-threatening injuries. Officers responded to the active shooter report around 10:57 a.m. The suspect was found dead upon the police’s arrival, and no officers discharged their weapons, Barnes stated.
The shooting was “confined to one space,” but it is unclear whether that space was a classroom or a hallway, the chief added.
