COOPERSBURG, Pa. – A man has been charged after a stabbing in Lehigh County.
Manuel Garrido is charged with aggravated assault and simple assault, according to the news release from the Lehigh County District Attorney’s Office.
Garrido is in custody and will be arraigned later Wednesday by the Lehigh County Central Booking Center, the DA’s office said.
At 7:42 a.m. Wednesday, Coopersburg police were called to the 400 block of Main Street in Coopersburg for a stabbing, according to the DA’s office.
The DA’s office says a man was found suffering from a stab wound to the chest. The victim was taken to Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest and is undergoing surgery for his injury.
A witness told police that Garrido stabbed the victim during an argument that unfolded in the kitchen of the apartment, according to the news release.
The DA’s office says Garrido is the tenant listed in the apartment where the stabbing occurred.
Police found a large, bloody knife in the kitchen area, the DA’s office said.
The investigation is being conducted by Coopersburg Police Investigator William Nahrgang, Officer Robert Mathes, Chief Anthony Struss as well as the Lehigh County District Attorney’s Office.
