Pilot Injured After Small Plane Crash-Lands in Franconia Township Field Wednesday Evening
FRANCONIA TOWNSHIP, Pa. β A small self-propelled aircraft crash-landed in a field Wednesday evening, injuring the pilot and prompting a multi-agency emergency response in Montgomery County.
The incident occurred around 5:25 p.m. on private property near 761 Cowpath Road, close to Yoderβs Farm Market and Green Hill Road, according to Montgomery County emergency dispatch reports.
Emergency crews arrived to find the aircraft down near a small ravine. The pilot had already exited the plane and was located nearby when first responders reached the scene.
The pilot was transported to a local hospital for evaluation. The extent of the injuries has not yet been released by officials.
Franconia Township Police, area fire companies, and EMS units responded to the scene. Authorities have not released the type of aircraft, its departure point, or what may have caused the crash.
Crews secured the area while awaiting federal aviation investigators. The FAA and NTSB are expected to handle the investigation, which is standard procedure for any aircraft crash.
