The Farmers’ Almanac predicts that the Lehigh Valley and the entire Northeast will experience stormy weather with above-normal amounts of winter precipitation and temperatures above normal. The publication claims to use a mathematical and astronomical formula to make its prediction.
According to the forecast, snow will be most prevalent over the interior and mountainous terrains, while sleet and rain will be more common near the coast, especially near and along the I-95 corridor. The publication has identified the last week of January as an active storm week that could bring frequent heavy precipitation to the eastern part of the United States.
The Farmers’ Almanac states that its forecasting is between 80% and 85% accurate. Last year, the publication predicted that the 2023-24 winter would be snowier than the previous one. This prediction was considered more likely to be accurate due to the fact that the winter of 2022-23 was one of the least snowy in recent years in the Lehigh Valley, with just 6 inches of snow recorded, according to National Weather Service data.”
