DISTRICT ATTORNEY AND PSP ANNOUNCE HOMICIDE AND ARREST
IN PERKIOMEN TOWNSHIP
NORRISTOWN, Pa. (Nov. 02, 2024) — Montgomery County District Attorney Kevin R. Steele and Pennsylvania State Police Captain Gerard B. McShea announce the arrest of William Carey, 46, for the murder of his girlfriend, Jessica Zipkin, 34, in the early morning hours of Nov. 2, 2024 in their Gravel Pike residence in Perkiomen Township.
On Nov. 02, 2024, at 1:25 a.m., Pennsylvania State Police responded to an apartment on Gravel Pike in Perkiomen Township after a 911 caller told the dispatcher that there was possibly a deceased female at that location. Troopers arrived on scene and found Zipkin with a fatal wound to the back of her head. A hammer was recovered next to the body.
An autopsy was conducted by Dr. Ian Hood, of the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office, who found that Zipkin died of blunt force trauma to the head. The manner of death was homicide.
Carey is charged with First-Degree Murder, Third-Degree Murder and Possessing an Instrument of Crime. He was arraignment on Nov. 2, 2024, by Magisterial District Judge Henry Schireson. Carey was remanded to the Montgomery County Correctional Facility as there is no bail available for First-Degree Murder charges. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 10 a.m., Nov. 13, 2024, before Magisterial District Judge Adam Katzman.
