— Philadelphia Phillies (@Phillies) April 3, 2024

The Phillies won 9-4 against the Reds on Tuesday night, despite a drizzling rain that made conditions less than ideal for fans. Some people even questioned whether the game should have been played at all, given the weather forecast. The turnout was lower than the announced crowd of 28,119, which was based on tickets sold. However, the game went ahead and lasted almost three hours.

Bryce Harper, Spencer Turnbull, and Ricardo Pinto were among the happiest players after the game. Harper, who had been 0-for-2024, hit three home runs and scored a career-high six RBI. His first two home runs were towering shots to center and right field, respectively. In his third at-bat, Harper hit a line drive that would have been an RBI but was caught by Cincinnati centerfielder Will Benson. Finally, in the seventh inning, Harper hit a grand slam that broke the game open. This was his second three-homer game of his career, the first being for the Nationals against Miami on May 6, 2015, the year he won his first MVP award.

Harper was thrilled with the win. “It felt great,” the first baseman said. “I wasn’t really sure if we were going to even play this game, obviously. Any time you’re going out and playing in that cold weather, it’s not very much fun. But getting the first one out of the way and getting those runs on the board was really big for us.
