NORRISTOWN, Pa. — Montgomery County authorities say a school bus driver is facing multiple charges after allegedly driving under the influence while transporting dozens of elementary school students earlier this month.

Montgomery County District Attorney Kevin Steele and Douglass Township Police Chief Robert Evans announced that an arrest warrant has been issued for 46-year-old Kelly Weber of Boyertown.

Investigators say the charges stem from a February 6 incident in which Weber was operating a school bus carrying 54 elementary school-aged children when police received reports of erratic driving.

According to authorities, Douglass Township Police were dispatched after callers reported a school bus swerving on the roadway, nearly striking other vehicles, and almost hitting a telephone pole.

Officers located the bus and conducted a traffic stop. Police say Weber was removed from the driver’s seat and taken into custody after officers determined she was suspected of driving under the influence.

All 54 children aboard the bus were safely removed, and officials say no injuries were reported.

Weber has been charged with:

  • Driving Under the Influence (DUI)
  • Endangering the Welfare of Children
  • Related criminal offenses

Authorities say the case remains under investigation.

Officials emphasized the seriousness of the allegations, noting that school bus drivers are entrusted with the safety of children every day.

Further details regarding Weber’s court appearance have not yet been released.
