On Monday night, a tornado with estimated wind speeds of 90 mph tore through Mahanoy City, Schuylkill County, ripping roofs off of homes. The EF1 tornado had a path length of 1.5 miles and a width of 75 yards, according to the National Weather Service (NWS). The tornado formed just west of Mahanoy City at 7:38 p.m. and traveled northeast. It uprooted several trees along its path as it moved into Mahanoy City and crossed E Railroad Street. The NWS reported that roof shingles and pieces of wooden debris were lofted into the air, and several impalements of wood into roofs were observed from falling debris.
