Eagles running back Saquon Barkley is set to receive a two-year contract extension worth $41.2 million, according to a report by Adam Schefter on X in collaboration with ESPN. Multiple sources have confirmed that this extension makes Barkley the highest-paid running back in NFL history.
With this new deal, Barkley becomes the first running back to earn more than $20 million per year. The agreement also includes potential additional earnings of $15 million through performance incentives and escalators. At signing, $36 million of the contract will be fully guaranteed.
This extension comes one year into Barkley’s original three-year deal, aligning with the same league year during which the Eagles initially signed him, as reported by Schefter.
