PHILADELPHIA, Pa. — A strong cold front is sweeping into the region today, bringing rain, possible snow showers, gusty winds and a sharp drop in temperatures just one day after Philadelphia climbed to a record 83 degrees on Wednesday.

Forecasters say periods of rain and snow are expected through the afternoon, with the best chance for mixed precipitation before 2 p.m. A brief period of snow showers remains possible into mid-afternoon before spotty rain and snow chances linger later in the day.

Temperatures will struggle to recover, with a high near 49 degrees under breezy conditions. Northwest winds are expected at 15 to 20 mph, with gusts reaching as high as 35 mph, making it feel even colder at times.

Despite the wintry mix, little to no snow accumulation is expected.

Tonight, skies will remain mostly cloudy early before gradual clearing takes over. Temperatures will fall quickly, with an overnight low around 27 degrees as colder air settles into the region.

The dramatic turnaround comes less than 24 hours after record warmth in Philadelphia, highlighting a major weather swing across the area.
