Philadelphia’s Wells Fargo Center Officially Renamed Xfinity Mobile Arena

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. — One of Philadelphia’s most iconic sports and entertainment venues has a new name. The Wells Fargo Center is now officially the Xfinity Mobile Arena, following a major rebranding announcement from Comcast Spectacor this week.

The change marks a new chapter for the South Philadelphia arena, home to the Philadelphia Flyers, Philadelphia 76ers, and countless major concerts and events since its opening in 1996.

A New Era for a Philly Landmark

The renaming reflects Comcast’s continued investment in the arena’s modernization, aligning with its Xfinity Mobile brand. Company officials say the move also includes significant upgrades for fans — including enhanced 5G wireless coverage, expanded public WiFi capacity, and new in-arena digital experiences.

The facility, which has undergone more than $400 million in renovations over the past decade, will retain its position as one of the busiest arenas in the nation, hosting NHL and NBA games, concerts, and major touring events.

“This rebrand isn’t just about a name,” said a Comcast Spectacor spokesperson. “It’s about improving every fan’s experience — faster connectivity, smarter technology, and the next generation of game-day interaction.”

Impact on Fans and Teams

The Philadelphia Flyers and 76ers will continue to play all home games at the newly renamed Xfinity Mobile Arena without any changes to scheduling or operations.

Updated signage is already being installed on the building’s exterior, with interior branding updates expected to roll out over the next several weeks.

Digital ticketing platforms and wayfinding apps have also been updated to reflect the arena’s new name. Fans attending upcoming Flyers and Sixers games will notice upgraded WiFi speeds, improved mobile concession ordering, and expanded interactive fan engagement zones tied to the Xfinity platform.

A Long Legacy of Change

Since its opening nearly three decades ago, the venue has undergone several name changes: originally CoreStates Center, then First Union Center, followed by Wachovia Center, and most recently Wells Fargo Center.

Despite the new branding, officials say the arena’s long-standing reputation as the heart of Philadelphia’s sports and live entertainment scene remains unchanged.

“Whatever the name on the sign, this arena is still Philly’s home court and home ice,” said a Flyers representative.
