ATLANTA — The Philadelphia Phillies’ postseason run ended Thursday night with a 6-2 loss to the Atlanta Braves in the decisive Game 3 of the National League Wild Card Series.
Atlanta struck first when Michael Harris II hit a three-run homer in the bottom of the first inning. The Braves added two runs in the fourth and another in the seventh to put the game out of reach.
The Phillies scored once in the sixth and again in the eighth, but managed just five hits. Kyle Schwarber had two of them, while Trea Turner and Alec Bohm each drove in a run.
Philadelphia forced Thursday’s winner-take-all game with a 4-3, 10-inning victory Wednesday. Alec Bohm’s home run in the 10th completed the comeback after back-to-back eighth-inning homers by Schwarber and Bryce Harper tied the game.
The Braves won the best-of-three series, 2-1, and advanced to face the Los Angeles Dodgers in the National League Division Series. The Phillies’ season is over.
