Quakertown, Pa. — A key decision impacting student transportation across the Quakertown Community School District is expected this week, as officials prepare to vote on whether to continue their partnership with Levy School Bus Company or move forward with a new provider.

The upcoming vote comes as the district evaluates transportation services, costs, and overall performance. School officials have been reviewing proposals and weighing options in an effort to determine the best fit for students, families, and district operations moving forward.

Levy School Bus Company has provided transportation services for the district for years, handling daily routes, extracurricular travel, and other student transportation needs. However, like many districts across Pennsylvania, Quakertown has faced ongoing challenges tied to school transportation, including driver shortages, rising operational costs, and reliability concerns.

District leaders have not publicly detailed all aspects of the competing proposals, but the decision is expected to focus on several key factors:

Student safety and service reliability Cost efficiency and long-term budgeting Driver staffing and retention Fleet condition and modernization

A change in providers could bring adjustments to bus routes, pickup times, and overall service structure ahead of the next school year. If the district opts to remain with Levy, officials may still look to implement improvements or revised contract terms.

Parents and community members are expected to be watching closely, as transportation plays a critical role in daily school operations and student accessibility.

The outcome of the vote will determine how thousands of Quakertown-area students get to and from school in the coming years.
