Philadelphia Police have reported that during an Eid-al-Fitr event in the city on Wednesday, three people were shot and five individuals were taken into custody. The shooting took place at the end of the event in the 4700 block of Wyalusing Avenue, where two groups were shooting at each other in a nearby park. Police have confirmed that one of the three victims was a 15-year-old boy who was shot twice by an officer. The boy and four other suspects were arrested at the scene and taken into custody. Police recovered five guns, four at the shooting location and one from the 15-year-old suspect.

In addition, during the police response to the shooting, a young girl was struck by a patrol wagon on its way to the scene.

Police have stated that around 1,000 people were present at the event, and with approximately 30 shots fired, it is fortunate that more people were not injured.
