ALLENTOWN, Pa. — One woman has died following a two-alarm house fire in Allentown Tuesday morning that also resulted in several firefighters suffering heat-related illnesses while battling the blaze.

The fire was reported in the 400 block of North Jerome Street, where arriving crews encountered a one-story single-family home with heavy smoke and flames showing. Due to the intensity of the fire, a second alarm was quickly requested, bringing additional firefighters to the scene.

During firefighting operations, crews removed at least one victim from the home. The Lehigh County Coroner’s Office was later called to the scene, confirming the incident is being investigated as a fatal fire.

The high temperatures and demanding conditions took a toll on emergency crews. Several firefighters were treated for heat-related illnesses, with some requiring transport to local hospitals for further evaluation.

Firefighters remained on scene for an extended period conducting overhaul operations as investigators worked to determine the cause of the fire.

The identity of the victim has not yet been released pending notification of next of kin.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by local fire officials and the Lehigh County Coroner’s Office.
