Quakertown Borough Police are reminding residents that scammers can fake caller ID to make a call appear to come from a trusted organization, including a bank, government office or local police department. Some may also use AI-generated voices to sound convincing.
If someone asks for personal information, money, account details or immediate action, don’t feel pressured to respond. Hang up and call the organization back using a number from its official website, a statement or another trusted source.
Caller ID can be faked—even when the name or number looks familiar.
