

LANSDALE, Pa. — Family members have identified the victim killed in Friday morning’s three-alarm fire involving multiple dwellings in the 800 block of Andover Road as John Garchinsky, a decorated U.S. Marine Corps veteran and two-time Purple Heart recipient.
Garchinsky served in the Marine Corps from 1978 to 1985, including a deployment aboard the USS Nashville during the 1983 Beirut crisis. He was remembered by family and fellow veterans for his honorable service and dedication to his country.
Firefighters from Montgomery and Bucks counties battled the blaze for several hours before bringing it under control. One person was pronounced dead at the scene, and crews remained on location extinguishing hotspots.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation by fire officials.
