Marine Veteran Identified Following Fatal 3rd Alarm Fire in Lansdale

LANSDALE, Pa. — Family members have identified the victim killed in Friday morning’s devastating three-alarm fire in Lansdale as John Garchinsky, a decorated United States Marine Corps veteran and two-time Purple Heart recipient.

The fire broke out around 6:15 a.m. in the 800 block of Andover Road, where heavy smoke and flames quickly engulfed multiple homes, prompting a massive response from firefighters throughout Montgomery and Bucks counties.

The incident was quickly upgraded to a 3rd Alarm, bringing dozens of firefighters and specialized equipment to the scene. Crews spent hours battling the intense blaze before placing the fire under control around 7:45 a.m. Firefighters remained on scene throughout the morning extinguishing hotspots and conducting overhaul operations.

The Montgomery County Coroner’s Office confirmed one person was found deceased inside one of the affected homes. The victim has since been identified by family members as John Garchinsky.

According to his family, Garchinsky proudly served in the United States Marine Corps from 1978 to 1985, including a deployment aboard the USS Nashville during the 1983 Beirut crisis. He was a two-time Purple Heart recipient and is being remembered by family, friends, and fellow Marines for his honorable military service, sacrifice, and dedication to his country.

The fire caused significant damage to multiple homes. Authorities have not released information on whether any additional injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by local fire officials.

First Source News extends its deepest condolences to the family, friends, neighbors, and fellow Marines of John Garchinsky during this difficult time.
