LANSDALE, Pa. — One person has been confirmed dead following a three-alarm fire that tore through multiple homes early Friday morning in Lansdale, according to authorities.
The fire broke out around 6:15 a.m. in the 800 block of Andover Road, where heavy smoke and flames quickly engulfed at least two homes, trapping residents inside.
A large response from fire departments across Montgomery and Bucks counties was dispatched to the scene as firefighters worked aggressively to contain the blaze. The incident was upgraded to a third alarm due to the size and complexity of the fire.
Fire officials reported the fire was placed under control around 7:45 a.m., though crews remained on scene for several hours conducting overhaul operations and extinguishing hotspots.
The Montgomery County Coroner’s Office was called to the scene and has confirmed at least one fatality. The identity of the victim has not been released pending notification of next of kin.
Emergency responders continue to investigate the cause of the fire. The extent of the damage to the affected homes has not yet been released.
Motorists are asked to avoid the area as road closures remain in effect while emergency crews continue their work.
