LOWER SAUCON TOWNSHIP, Pa. — A man was taken to a hospital with burns after a house fire early Wednesday morning in Lower Saucon Township.
Emergency crews were dispatched to the area of Apple Street around 12:16 a.m. and found the home heavily engulfed in flames, with part of the structure collapsed, Lower Saucon Fire Rescue said.
Because it was unclear whether anyone was still inside, firefighters searched the home but found no one. A short time later, emergency medical crews were called to a neighbor’s home for a man with burns. He was taken to a hospital. No other injuries were reported.
Additional firefighters and water tankers were called to the scene because the area does not have fire hydrants. Crews from Lower Saucon and Dewey Fire Company, along with emergency medical personnel and mutual aid from Northampton, Bucks and Lehigh counties, responded.
Neighbors reportedly heard a loud explosion before the fire. The cause is under investigation, and officials said no additional details were available.
