On Saturday evening, representatives from the Lehigh County Coroner’s Office, State Police, and Coopersburg Police were present at a Santander Bank branch located off Route 309 in Coopersburg Borough.
According to the Lehigh County District Attorney’s Office, an investigation led to the discovery of a deceased individual. The coroner has identified the individual as Lucrecia Jadan Sumba, a 39-year-old resident of Elizabeth Township, New Jersey.
Ms. Sumba was pronounced dead at the scene on Saturday, January 11, 2025, at 5:55 p.m. The incident occurred in the 200 block of South 3rd Street in Coopersburg, Pennsylvania. The coroner reported that her body was found in a dumpster on the property. An autopsy conducted on Monday revealed that the cause of death was sharp force injuries, and the coroner ruled the manner of death as homicide.
In addition to the coroner’s office, the Elizabeth Police Department and the Union County Prosecutor’s Office in Elizabeth, New Jersey, are also investigating the case.
Lehigh County District Attorney Gavin Holihan released a statement saying, “This investigation is being conducted by an out-of-state agency. There is no risk to the public. From what we understand, the person of interest in this case has been apprehended.” Holihan added, “There was no crime committed in Lehigh County, and no arrests have been made here. We will continue to cooperate with the investigation as needed.”
