
ALLENTOWN, Pa. – Allentown police have provided additional details regarding a shooting that occurred downtown in the afternoon, leaving one person hospitalized.
Authorities report that 37-year-old Emanuel Velilla, from Salisbury Township, has been charged in connection with the incident.
On Thursday, April 24, around 5 p.m., officers responded to a report of a shooting in the 1000 block of Hamilton Street. Upon arrival, they found a male victim suffering from a gunshot wound. Police administered aid, and the victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment. Fortunately, the victim is expected to survive his injuries.
Following their investigation, the Allentown Police Department obtained an arrest warrant for Emanuel Velilla, charging him with carrying a firearm without a license. So far, no charges have been filed against him specifically related to the shooting.
On Friday, shortly after 9:30 a.m., Velilla was taken into custody without incident, according to police.
