ALLENTOWN, Pa. – Fire crews responded to a fast-moving blaze Friday at an apartment building in the city, leaving multiple residents displaced.
The fire broke out at 222 North 12th Street, where heavy flames were seen coming from the first floor of a 3-story middle-of-the-row apartment building. According to initial reports, people were spotted trying to escape from second-floor windows on the Charlie side of the building as firefighters arrived.
Crews quickly worked to bring the fire under control. At this time, it is unknown if anyone was injured, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
Officials confirmed that several residents have been displaced as a result of the fire. Emergency agencies and community organizations are expected to assist those affected.
Firefighters remained on scene through the afternoon to ensure all hot spots were extinguished and to begin their investigation
