DETROIT — Ford Motor Co. has issued a major recall affecting more than 200,000 of its Ford Bronco and Ford Bronco Sport SUVs due to an instrument-panel malfunction that can leave drivers without essential safety information.

According to federal safety officials, the digital instrument cluster may fail to display vital indicators when the vehicle starts. This means drivers may temporarily lose access to speed readings, warning lights, and other critical alerts — increasing the risk of a crash.

The recall covers certain 2025–2026 Ford Bronco and Bronco Sport models, totaling approximately 229,000 vehicles. Ford reports no known crashes or injuries connected to the defect.

Owners of affected vehicles will begin receiving mailed notices starting December 8, 2025. Ford dealers will perform a free software update to fix the faulty display system.

Authorities say the malfunction is intermittent and may not occur every time the vehicle is started, so drivers are urged to schedule the recall repair promptly once notified.

What Drivers Should Do

  • Check if your Bronco or Bronco Sport falls within the 2025–2026 model years.
  • Watch for an official recall letter starting December 8.
  • Schedule the free repair at any authorized Ford or Lincoln dealership.
  • If your display remains blank or erratic at startup, drive cautiously and contact your dealer immediately.

This recall is listed under federal safety campaign number 25V540.
