ALLENTOWN, Pa. — Authorities say an Allentown man attempted to pay for, and meet for, sexual contact with someone he believed to be a 12-year-old child, according to the Pennsylvania Attorney General’s Office.
Kristien Diaz, 31, is now facing multiple felony charges, including attempted rape of a child.
Investigators say Diaz arranged to meet the “child” last week in Lehigh County. When he arrived at the planned location, agents with the Office of Attorney General and local police took him into custody.
According to officials, the person Diaz had been communicating with online was actually an undercover agent with the Attorney General’s Office.
When Diaz was arrested, investigators seized his cellphone, which they say contained the online conversations outlining the meet-up and showed Diaz acknowledged the “child’s” age during the exchanges.
The Attorney General’s Office says Diaz was arraigned and bail was set at $500,000. He was taken to the Lehigh County Correctional Facility.
Diaz is charged with:
- Attempted rape of a child
- Attempted involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a child
- Attempted statutory sexual assault
- Two counts of unlawful contact with a minor
- Criminal use of a communication facility
- Misdemeanor attempted corruption of minors
This case remains under investigation by the Pennsylvania Attorney General’s Office.
