ANN ARBOR, Mich. — Former University of Michigan head football coach Sherrone Moore was arrested this week on multiple criminal charges, just days after the university announced his dismissal from the program.

According to authorities, Moore was taken into custody after police responded to a reported incident at a residence in Washtenaw County. Investigators allege Moore unlawfully entered the home of a woman with whom he had a prior personal relationship. No injuries were reported, but police say the situation escalated to the point where criminal charges were warranted.

Charges Filed

Prosecutors have charged Moore with the following offenses:

  • Third-degree home invasion (felony)
  • Stalking in a domestic relationship (misdemeanor)
  • Entering without permission (misdemeanor)

Authorities allege Moore entered the residence without consent and made threatening statements during the incident. He was arrested without incident and transported to the Washtenaw County Jail.

Court Proceedings

Moore appeared before a judge for an arraignment where bond was set at $25,000. Conditions of his release include:

  • No contact with the alleged victim
  • GPS monitoring
  • Surrender of any weapons
  • Compliance with court-ordered mental health treatment

His next court appearance is scheduled for January 2026.

University Response

The University of Michigan confirmed Moore’s termination earlier in the week, citing violations of university policy. Officials declined to comment further due to the ongoing legal proceedings but emphasized the university’s commitment to maintaining a safe and respectful environment for students and staff.

Program Impact

Moore had been with the Michigan football program since 2018 and was promoted to head coach in 2024. His abrupt departure comes as the Wolverines prepare for postseason play, with an interim head coach stepping in to lead the team.

The situation has sent shockwaves through the college football community and continues to unfold as the legal process moves forward
