ALLENTOWN, Pa. — One man is dead and two other people were injured after a fight escalated into a shooting outside a bar in Allentown early Friday morning, according to police.
Allentown police officers were called to the 1300 block of Hanover Avenue around 1:30 a.m. for a reported shooting, the Allentown Police Department said in a news release. The incident occurred outside Big Woody’s Sports Bar & Restaurant.
When officers arrived, they found two victims suffering from gunshot wounds, police said. Both were transported to area hospitals for treatment. Their conditions have not been released.
Police later confirmed that a third individual involved in the incident was pronounced dead. The victim’s identity has not yet been released, pending notification of next of kin.
Investigators say the shooting stemmed from a physical altercation that broke out at or near the bar before gunfire erupted. It is unclear how many shots were fired or how many people were involved.
The area was secured for several hours as detectives processed the scene and collected evidence. Police tape was seen surrounding the bar and nearby portions of Hanover Avenue.
No arrests have been announced, and the investigation remains ongoing.
