ALLENTOWN, Pa. — A third-alarm house fire tore through a twin home in the 600 block of South 6th Street Saturday morning, sending flames shooting through the roof and prompting a large emergency response from fire crews across the city.
Fire officials say the blaze began in one of the occupied twin home units before quickly spreading into the adjoining residence, which was vacant at the time of the fire. Heavy fire conditions were visible upon arrival, with flames breaking through the upper floors and roofline.
In a social media post, Mayor Matt Tuerk confirmed that two firefighters suffered minor injuries while battling the intense blaze.
One resident was displaced as a result of the fire. No civilian injuries were reported.
Multiple fire companies worked for an extended period to bring the fire under control and prevent further extension to nearby homes in the tightly packed neighborhood.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
