BETHLEHEM, Pa. — Firefighters responded to a second-alarm house fire early Wednesday morning in Bethlehem.
Emergency crews were dispatched to 2733 Covington Avenue for reports of a fire in the basement of a private dwelling. Initial arriving units reported smoke conditions and began fire attack operations inside the structure.
Due to the nature of the fire and the need for additional manpower, a second alarm was requested, bringing multiple companies to the scene to assist with suppression and overhaul operations.
Firefighters worked quickly to bring the situation under control. Officials confirmed the fire was declared out at 12:43 a.m. Wednesday.
There were no immediate reports of injuries.
The cause of the fire has not been released, and it is not yet known how much damage the home sustained. Fire officials are expected to review the incident.
