The first shooting was reported around 6:53 p.m. in the 600 block of West Gordon Street.
Officers located a man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene. That investigation remains ongoing.
The second shooting was reported at approximately 8:17 p.m. in the area of South Front Street and East Cumberland Street.
According to Allentown Police, officers located a man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Officers, Allentown EMS and fire personnel treated the victim at the scene before he was transported to a local hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
Police said a suspect was taken into custody at the scene.
Barrett Griggs, 39, of Schuylkill Haven, has been charged with homicide and persons not to possess firearms in connection with the second shooting.
Allentown Police said Wednesday that the South Front Street and East Cumberland Street homicide is not related to the earlier fatal shooting in the 600 block of Gordon Street.
The second homicide is being investigated by the Allentown Police Department, Lehigh County Homicide Task Force, Lehigh County District Attorney’s Office and Lehigh County Coroner’s Office.
Authorities are asking anyone with information to contact Allentown Police detectives.
Both fatal shootings occurred Tuesday evening, but investigators have now confirmed they are separate incidents.
