Troopers were dispatched shortly after 5 a.m. to Interstate 78 westbound for a report of a vehicle that had gone into a ditch.
According to investigators, the driver was traveling westbound when the vehicle struck a traffic sign, left the roadway, and entered a ditch on the right side of the highway.
Emergency crews responded to the scene, where the 18-year-old driver was pronounced dead.
Pennsylvania State Police say the crash remains under investigation. No other vehicles were reported to be involved.
Authorities have not released additional details as the investigation continues.
