PLUMSTEADVILLE, Pa. — Firefighters from across Bucks County responded Thursday afternoon to a transformer fire that spread into an industrial building along Easton Road in Plumstead Township.
The incident occurred around 12:04 p.m. at 6182 Easton Road, where crews arrived to find fire involving a transformer and electrical equipment outside the structure. Flames extended into the building, producing heavy smoke and prompting a large emergency response.
Employees inside the building were able to evacuate safely before firefighters arrived.
During the incident, part of the front section of the building experienced a partial collapse, creating additional hazards for crews operating at the scene. Firefighters also had to contend with electrical hazards and a possible gas leak until utility companies were able to secure the area.
Once utilities were controlled, crews began working to bring the fire under control using multiple hose lines and aerial apparatus.
Officials say an interior firewall helped slow the spread of the fire, preventing the blaze from extending through the entire structure.
Authorities confirmed that no injuries were reported.
Easton Road (Route 611) was temporarily closed in both directions near Applebutter Road and Kellers Church Road while firefighters and emergency personnel worked at the scene.
Heavy equipment was later requested to assist with overhaul operations and address structural stability concerns.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
