PHILADELPHIA —

The Philadelphia Eagles have reportedly traded star wide receiver A.J. Brown to the New England Patriots in a blockbuster deal that sends one of the NFL’s premier pass catchers out of Philadelphia and into Foxborough.

According to multiple reports Monday, the Patriots have acquired Brown in exchange for future draft capital, with reports indicating the Eagles are receiving a 2028 first-round draft pick along with additional draft compensation. Other reports have suggested the package could include multiple future first-round selections, though final trade details continue to emerge.

The move comes after months of speculation surrounding Brown’s future with the Eagles. Trade rumors intensified throughout the offseason and gained momentum after June 1 due to significant salary cap implications that made a deal more financially feasible for Philadelphia.

Brown arrived in Philadelphia in 2022 after being acquired from the Tennessee Titans during the NFL Draft. During his time with the Eagles, he quickly became one of the league’s top receivers, helping lead Philadelphia to multiple playoff appearances and establishing himself as quarterback Jalen Hurts’ top target.

The three-time Pro Bowl wide receiver recorded four consecutive 1,000-yard seasons and became one of the most productive receivers in franchise history during his tenure with the Eagles.

For New England, the acquisition provides quarterback Drake Maye with a true No. 1 receiving option as the Patriots continue to rebuild their offense under head coach Mike Vrabel. Brown now joins a Patriots offense looking to return to playoff contention after several rebuilding seasons.

The trade marks one of the biggest moves of the 2026 NFL offseason and signals a major shift for both franchises. Philadelphia gains valuable future draft assets while New England lands one of the NFL’s elite offensive playmakers.

Additional details regarding the final compensation package and any potential contract adjustments are expected to be released as the trade becomes official.
