ALLENTOWN, Pa. — A man is in critical condition after coming into contact with a live power line Wednesday morning in Allentown, officials have confirmed.

Emergency crews were called to the scene around 11:20 a.m. near the intersection of North 12th and Webster streets. The incident triggered a large response from both fire and police departments, as well as utility personnel from PPL Electric Utilities.

Allentown Fire Captain Jon Hammel said the man was rescued by emergency responders and transported to the hospital, where he remains in critical condition. A second person was also rescued, though that individual sustained less serious injuries. Officials have not yet released the names of either person involved.

The electrical contact caused a widespread outage that left more than 700 PPL customers without power. The outage also affected traffic signals and other infrastructure in the surrounding neighborhood, prompting additional public safety concerns.

PPL officials confirmed that power was fully restored to the affected area after several hours of work.

The exact circumstances surrounding the man’s contact with the power line remain under investigation.

Residents are reminded to stay clear of downed wires and report any electrical hazards immediately. Updates will be provided as more information becomes available.

Updates will be posted as more details become available. Stay with FirstSourceNews.net for continuing coverage.
