Minneapolis — More details are emerging after an officer-involved shooting involving federal immigration authorities left a woman dead in Minneapolis on Wednesday.

According to officials, officers with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) were conducting official enforcement activity in the city when the encounter occurred. During that interaction, an ICE officer discharged their firearm, striking the woman.

Emergency responders were called to the scene, where the woman was pronounced dead. Her identity has not yet been released, as authorities continue efforts to notify next of kin.

Officials have not said what prompted the use of deadly force, and it remains unclear whether the woman was armed or if a confrontation took place prior to the shooting. Authorities have also not confirmed whether body-worn cameras were in use or if video evidence exists.

No ICE officers were reported injured in the incident.

As is standard in officer-involved shootings, the case is now under review by federal investigators. ICE officials say the incident is being handled in accordance with established protocols, and additional information will be released once the investigation progresses.

This is a developing story. Updates will be provided as more confirmed details become available.
