ALLENTOWN, Pa. – Three individuals, including two firefighters, were injured in a fire that broke out in an Allentown rowhome.
“Any victim recovery is difficult. It’s hard on the guys and it’s taxing. The team worked really hard,” said Matt Eharth, Deputy Chief of the Allentown Fire Department.
Firefighters responded quickly to the scene of the three-alarm fire, which ignited just before 8 a.m. on Wednesday. Eharth reported that two individuals inside the home on the 100 block of North 13th Street were rescued, and one of them was taken to the hospital.
“We also had two firefighters transported to local hospitals with minor injuries,” Eharth noted, adding that the firefighters are expected to recover.
In response to the early-morning fire, crews activated three alarms, bringing in additional support. “That meant everyone in the city was called in, and we also had mutual aid companies respond to assist,” Eharth explained.
He stated that the fire started in the middle of the rowhome but was quickly contained to one unit. A woman who has lived in the home for years called 911 when she noticed smoke.
The residents of the affected home are now displaced, and the Red Cross is providing assistance. Fortunately,
