ALLENTOWN, Pa. — (Lehigh County) —
Firefighters rescued two individuals during a second-alarm structure fire Sunday in the City of Allentown, including one person who was trapped on the roof and another pulled from inside the burning home.
The fire was dispatched to the 200 block of North 17th Street, where crews arrived to find fire showing from a three-story twin dwelling and extending toward the Bravo exposure, threatening the neighboring attached structure.
During initial operations, firefighters confirmed one victim was trapped on the roof of the building and was safely rescued by crews. A second victim was also located inside the structure and removed by firefighters during search and rescue operations.
Due to the volume of fire and rescue needs, a second alarm was transmitted, bringing additional manpower, ladder companies, and suppression resources to the scene.
Firefighters deployed multiple handlines and conducted aggressive interior and exterior operations to contain the blaze and prevent extension to adjacent homes in the densely populated residential block.
The conditions inside the structure were described as dangerous, requiring coordinated rescue efforts and rapid fire suppression to protect both victims and nearby exposures.
The condition of the rescued victims has not yet been officially released.
The fire is currently under investigation, and officials have not yet released a cause.
This remains a developing story. Updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
