ALLENTOWN, Pa. – A 52-year-old Allentown man who was critically injured in a hit-and-run crash while riding a scooter on July Fourth has died from his injuries, the Lehigh County Coroner’s Office confirmed Tuesday.
The victim, whose identity has not yet been released pending family notification, passed away at Lehigh Valley Hospital–Cedar Crest, according to officials. An autopsy has been scheduled for Thursday to determine the exact cause of death.
The incident occurred around 5:30 p.m. on July 4 in the 300 block of North Eighth Street, near Chew Street. Authorities previously reported that the man was riding his scooter when he was struck by a vehicle, which subsequently fled the scene without stopping to provide assistance.
Allentown police continue to investigate the hit-and-run and urge anyone with information to contact them or submit an anonymous tip via their Tip411 platform.
