DOYLESTOWN BOROUGH, Pa. — Police are investigating a burglary at a Doylestown Borough gas station that resulted in the theft of a work van from the business’s service lot.

According to the Central Bucks Regional Police Department, the break-in happened sometime between 9 p.m. on July 22 and 2 a.m. at a Shell station in Doylestown Borough.

Investigators say the suspect, or suspects, used a cement block to smash the front door and gain entry into the business. Once inside, the cash register was found opened, but police said no cash had been left in the drawer overnight.

Police said the individuals then stole two sets of vehicle keys that were inside the building for vehicles awaiting mechanical repairs.

Using one of the stolen key sets, the suspects drove away in a 2018 Ram 1500 work van that had been parked in the service lot. Authorities said a second vehicle targeted during the incident could not be stolen because it had a dead battery and would not start.

The stolen van was later recovered unoccupied by the Allentown Police Department, according to investigators.

Police also believe at least one of the suspects arrived at the scene on a stolen bicycle, which was later recovered. At this time, investigators have not determined how many people were involved in the burglary.

The investigation remains active.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the Central Bucks Regional Police Department.
