INDIANAPOLIS – WNBA superstar and Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark announced Thursday she will not participate in this year’s WNBA All‑Star Game or the Three‑Point Contest, citing a recent injury that has sidelined her once again.

Clark, who was voted as an All‑Star captain in just her second year in the league, revealed in a statement that she is “incredibly sad and disappointed” to miss the festivities but has been advised by team doctors to prioritize her recovery.

“I have to rest my body,” Clark wrote. “It’s not easy stepping away from an event I’ve dreamed of, but my focus is on getting healthy for my teammates and the rest of the season.”

Injury Setback for the Rising Star

The 23‑year‑old phenom has brought record attendance, soaring television ratings, and a surge in WNBA jersey sales since entering the league. But her sophomore season has been interrupted by multiple injuries. According to the Fever, Clark aggravated a groin injury during a recent matchup and has been playing through lingering soreness for several weeks.

After further evaluation and imaging this week, team officials decided it would be unsafe for her to compete in the high‑intensity All‑Star events.

Remaining a Presence at All‑Star Weekend

Despite withdrawing from on‑court activities, Clark will still travel to All‑Star weekend in Indianapolis. She plans to support her fellow players from the bench and participate in off‑court appearances throughout the event.

WNBA Commissioner Cathy Engelbert is expected to announce a replacement player and a new entrant in the Three‑Point Contest in the coming days.

Impact on the Fever and the League

Clark has averaged 16.5 points, 8.8 assists, and 5 rebounds this season, helping the Fever maintain playoff position despite her missed games. Head coach Stephanie White said the organization fully supports Clark’s decision to rest, emphasizing that “her long‑term health is our priority.”

The All‑Star Game is scheduled for Saturday night at Gainbridge Fieldhouse, with the skills competitions set for Friday evening. Clark’s absence is a blow to fans eager to see one of the sport’s brightest stars, but her continued presence on the sideline is expected to energize the crowd and her peers.
