LOWER NAZARETH TWP., Pa. — Authorities are investigating after a baby was found dead inside a vehicle Thursday afternoon in Northampton County.
According to the Northampton County Coroner’s Office, the child was discovered unresponsive in a vehicle parked in a lot along Hanoverville Road in Lower Nazareth Township shortly before 5:45 p.m.
Emergency responders were dispatched to the scene, but the infant was pronounced dead.
The Northampton County Coroner confirmed the death Thursday evening. Officials have not yet released the child’s identity, age, or any additional details regarding the circumstances leading up to the incident.
Investigators remained at the scene Thursday night as law enforcement and the coroner’s office worked to determine exactly what happened. The cause and manner of death have not yet been released pending further investigation.
The tragic incident comes as eastern Pennsylvania experiences a period of above-average temperatures, though authorities have not indicated whether weather conditions played a role in the child’s death.
