NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The Philadelphia Eagles improved to 2-0 Sunday after escaping with a 24-20 victory over the Tennessee Titans during Week 2 of the NFL season.
Philadelphia trailed late in the fourth quarter before quarterback Jalen Hurts led the offense on a nine-play, 65-yard drive. Hurts connected with Darius Cooper for a three-yard touchdown with just nine seconds remaining, giving the Eagles the lead for good.
Hurts completed 26 of 37 passes for 264 yards and two touchdowns but also threw two interceptions. DeVonta Smith led Philadelphia’s receivers with 10 catches for 117 yards and a touchdown.
Kicker Jake Elliott also played an important role, connecting on a 58-yard field goal that helped keep Philadelphia within striking distance.
Despite the win, many Eagles fans were critical of the team’s performance. Turnovers, offensive inconsistency and missed opportunities allowed Tennessee to remain in the game until the final seconds.
Running back Saquon Barkley left early after suffering a stinger but later returned. Tight end Dallas Goedert exited with a knee injury and did not return.
The Eagles remain undefeated through the first two weeks of the season, but Sunday’s narrow victory showed there is still plenty for Philadelphia to clean up moving forward.
