
FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP, Pa. (Carbon County) — Tragedy struck late Tuesday night when a house fire claimed the lives of four children and one adult in Franklin Township, Carbon County.
Fire Erupts Late at Night
According to Pennsylvania State Police, the blaze broke out around 11:48 p.m. at a home on Willow Street. Firefighters arrived to find the structure already heavily engulfed in flames, with the first floor fully involved and parts of the second floor also burning.
Despite efforts by fire crews, the intensity of the fire prevented any rescue. A subsequent search of the home revealed five victims inside — four children and one adult.
Identities Not Yet Released
Authorities have not released the identities or ages of the victims. The relationship between the adult and the children has not been confirmed. The Carbon County Coroner’s Office is working to positively identify the deceased, and families are being notified.
Investigation Underway
The cause of the fire remains under investigation. State Police Fire Marshals and local fire officials are examining the scene, but the extent of the damage has complicated early findings.
